I’m either making a BIG mistake or a great decision… time will tell.
I try to be proactive & stay a step ahead, so tomorrow I installing solar on my home: an $85,000 22kw system with roughly 35 roof panels, two Tesla Powerwall 3s, & an upgraded digital SPAN electrical panel that I can control from my phone.
With green energy tax credits expiring Dec 31 & Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” allowing the system to be fully depreciated in a single tax year, & with everything going “according to plan” it should result in roughly $50,000 back in tax credits to apply against the principle.
That puts the system on a 5–6 year payoff timeline. Wish me luck ☀️
Good luck, but that seems super expensive given how cheap equipment is now. Whats the material/labour cost split?

I think it’s about 50/50
As the replacement value is about $43k
But to your point, yes, I am probably overpaying.
Massively overpaying. You can get 20kw battery for 5k now. The panels and alternator are cheap 3-4k. I would get more offers.
