Musk is doing what he can with X. He's fighting government mandated censorship wherever it may be. Unfortunately, it only takes one loss to render the platform compromised.

Given that many of these orders are secret and do not allow Musk to reveal them, it's possible that it's already compromised.

In other words, it's only a matter of time before things get worse there. The future must be decentralized.

He knows as much, so platforms can’t be held liable, but I’m not a developer, is it remotely feasible to have Twitter/X leverage the Nostr protocol?

I’m not either but I’d bet heavily on no because current infrastructure could not handle that volume of traffic

If he puts together robust relays,l and streamlines the process of them coming pre installed on the client, is that the hiccup or are there other things to facilitate the faster flow of information?

The problem is he cannot manage nor provide the relays. Relay operators should probably be voluntary and/or profit seeking individuals or independent entities to maintain the benefits of decentralization.

Maybe he could provide a no-strings-attached bounty for the first few thousand relay operators per country

A sufficiently motivated and resourced company could build the world's greatest decentralized social network.

But the product doesn't make enough money to cover such an enormous firm's costs.

So small groups of principled devs and startups are our only hope.
