I was in a bitcoiner clubhouse room one day and this lady came on. I vaguely remember her story of seeing 70+ doctors for some condition, all saying she was crazy and that there’s nothing wrong with her. The next doctor figured it out and helped her.
My memory might be off there, but I just remember how eye opening it was at the time. Truly goes to show nobody will care for you as much as yourself.
Yep. That meme “Don’t confuse your Google search with my medical degree” is ludicrous to me. It seems most doctors don’t have the time to get to know their patients thoroughly and treat them comprehensively these days. I know too many stories of misdiagnoses or people falling through the cracks of the medical system to count.
I’m lucky where I’m at to have access to some of the best doctors and specialists in the country/world and I’ve seen dismissive and outright “phoning it in” diagnosis.
Just like any occupation there’s shitty ones and really good ones. We’re just not allowed to really say that for some reason.
I think it’s like politics. Most go in smart and idealistic, but end up being victims of misaligned incentives and often disillusioned.
