Interesting. I get some pretty cold temps at home. It get below freezing a few times a year. Other than that it's pretty hot and humid where I live. Are you saying they go dormant and come back or will they die off completely?

They go dormant even in the tropics as it gets cold.

Unless you have them in a green house you won't be able to grow them. My dad loves them & he has similar temperatures. He just can't get them to survive.

Here's the last sad little red/pink flower against some of my white ones. The red one is still in a pot as it didn't do so well in the ground & I saved it by taking a cutting.

The white ones are gorgeous

I have this debilitating condition that values scarcity.

I seek out the most scarcest of commodities & accumulate them. I should get some help.

Have you seen the film adaptation? It's been years since I watched it, but I recall there was a guy who was hunting rare orchids and using them as drugs... I think.
