Off grid can mean many versions but essentially not having any connections to formal utility infrastructure: power, water, sewer..kinda intermet with satelite. No man is an island. When I lived off grid for many years you realize how impossible it is to remove external inputs.

No one is making their own cast iron fire stove for example.

Living off grid can be the best experience. It comes down to location, infrastructure. Moderate climate, plenty of sun and gravity pressure fresh water spring make all the difference in the world. Some fertile land and power production takes you over the line.

I love my current home, but nothing quite like the disconnected life.
