I agree mostly, but I don’t get not protecting a $1500 phone with a $10 case.

There’s a not so subtle difference between neurotically trying to keep something in pristine condition and taking good care of it.

It's because my phone has a rubber case that I don't worry about damaging it.

When money is no object and replacing the device is less of an issue than dealing with wrapping it in rubber.

There is also another train of thought. You don’t have to be rich, just pragmatic and if you’re going to make that kind of purchase, grabbing insurance for it is a logical move. Then you may be a bit more cavalier, knowing that it’s covered.
