I think the only way would be to have the nsec. If you don’t have it, you’re probably out of luck. Did you ever use a browser extension with your old nsec? Maybe it’s saved in there?
No, i don't have that. Do i have to start over? 😔 I was just here for a day but it feels bad.
it's a super valuable lesson you learned though, if you were here for only a few days and just lost the keys, it's a pretty good thing; imagine losing your keys for the first time after a year of being here
did you feel that the importance of the key was properly explained?
Not really honestly. I've heard about it but don't know it exactly I guess. I thought it's more like a password. I didn't think it would get lost forever that easily.
yeah, it's a big paradigm shift and I don't think it's properly explained yet
the basic trade off is that, whenever there is a password, it means that someone else has the power over you
the password is the secret you show them to ask for permission to do something, whether it is writing a post, withdrawing your money from your bank, or whatever service this authority is providing for you.
Using a key, instead of a password, is for systems where you, as the holder of that key, are not subject to any other provider or authority.
But of course, properly handling a key is not something most people are used to yet, so this is an important thing we need to help explain.

Unfortunately, yes, but don’t feel bad it’s happened to a lot of us, even the highly technically literate people. I think it was #[4] who accidentally deleted his keys and had to start over.
Make sure to write your new nsec down on a piece of paper so you never lose it.
