Satlantis is ready for testing.

What is it? It’s the first travel-centric social network built on Nostr.

It’s quite different from anything else that came before it. It’s part map, part directory, part events app and part social network.

This is the first of a bi-monthly release notes I'm going to write and release here on Nostr.

Follow along as we build something fundamentally new.

Discussion

Its closed source, centralized and not fully Nostr based, right?

test

You should read the article. Explains all that.

Many people who do not read English and long texts will not see the points I mentioned in the text.

So I preferred to leave this answer as a marker for three points that I consider very important and I expected a more direct answer to them.

Also because the login screen with emails and your github with the name of the project's CEO and without the open source code will give a bad impression to many people on Nostr.

As you can see, I’m not a developer.

I don’t even use GitHub.

So there’s nothing to see on my GitHub 😂 🤡

Now…is Satlantis “open source”

Not right now. Maybe in the future

Is it “decentralized”?

No. It’s a travel social network. Not a freedom of speech platform. As I’ve repeatedly said, I don’t care about censorship resistance. That’s the least important attribute of Nostr for our purposes.

Do you need to use it?

Of course not. You can keep using Trip Advisor or Google because they’re more suited to you.

Good luck

I asked the initial questions not as a provocation, but because I check projects on Nostr to add to my list of projects.

I check if it is decentralized, if it is really on Nostr and if it has a source, especially since there have been cases of scams, such as the one with ArcadeCity.

In any case, I appreciate the information.

For me and other people this is a problem, I am against centralization and I try to avoid closed source apps.

A question that has been on my mind from some time… Is nostr:nprofile1qqs2rx4daefmcuwjttl0xegx0guh3tps64fq6dhv3nr56aagw2hhxkgprfmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumm5dpjhyum5w4nxvtnx095sz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9eekjctdwd68ytnrdaksrr73t8 using NIP-XX-Places from nostr:nprofile1qqsw3mfhnrr0l6ll5zzsrtpeufckv2lazc8k3ru5c3wkjtv8vlwngkspzemhxue69uhkummnw3ex2mrfw3jhxtn0wfnj7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t09uhefmkm ? Or are places represented in another form?

I ask, because I can imagine many use cases for ‘places’ but as far as I can see, we have not agreed on a standard yet and that NIP is getting close

Started that way, but was too complicated and the standard was never fleshed out.

Before we go building standards, we need to get the actual product and its features right.

This is one giant experiment amd we’re still working that out.

Once we do, and we are done with making changes, we will propose a standard and “Nostrfy” each location.

Until then, we’ve got to get it right, and build in such a way that can easily be changed and evolved.

Thanks! I appreciate the reply and the explanation. I am looking forward to learn more about your successes and challenges to overcome.

One step at a time, but it’s cool to see you are make lots of steps forward now 💯

Keen to see the latest version. Interested to see how we can either contribute or use it.
