I think I'd rephrase that quote a bit. Maybe something like. "It is dangerous to be right when the paychecks of men depend on you being wrong."
I could be wrong but 'established men' typically don't seem highly dogmatic, instead, they just say / do whatever necessary to get paid. And if they means lying to millions and indirectly killing hundreds of thousands, then they'd do just that.
Yes, however I think as long as most people have their bread and circuses they'll go along with whatever. It's going to take some serious reconning to wake most up. Molon Labe until then.
