Personally, most bots drive me nuts. I want to talk with someone who is at least a little bit disagreeable and who is capable of choosing not to reply if they don't have anything worth reading to say.

Immediate replice are nice, but they can easily result in giant hellthreads as well, so it's also nice I think if people have time to do something else and reflect on the conversation before reading the next reply.
