Cities are seen as the epicenter of civilization.

But city living makes people savage and less civilized.

Folks in rural America have respect for societal norms, respect for rule of law, respect for community, and respect for one another.

Most city dwellers display none of those qualities.

Modern cities are hyper novel. Nothing like them existed until the last few generations.

Rural "towns" are the size of historical cities and are more in line with the social conditions we evolved to navigate.

There's a great Rich Rolls interview with Zach Bush MD. At one point he states that modern cities for the Earth as an organism like cancer cells for human body. He presents photos from satellites and microscope as comparison. It is quite impressive how similar they look. I can't find it now, but if i ever find it I'll post it.

Depends, perhaps to some degree.

I remember spending several summer and winter holidays in the countryside in Sweden and there was sometimes hostility due to the fact that I was from the city. Back in the city it was in the reverse; I was viewed as the rural guy there. 😄
