Different places call stuff by different names all the time. Is it stupid that English speaker call Germany Germany instead of Deutschland ?

Renaming it Gulf of Texas would have made things clearer

I like it. It’s America’s Gulf not just Mexico’s.

Most of the southern and western half of the US was originally part of Mexico.
