Amethyst needs no shilling, but as requested: Amethyst has been my #1 used client since it launched. If you're an Android user and love features, privacy, and experiencing a wide variety of the Nostr ecosystem, Amethyst is for you. Amethyst also has some stability and performance issues from time to time, but I've always viewed this as a trade off to experience Amethyst's wide range of features that sometimes you cannot find anywhere else. Will might say that he's "spending all day looking at NIPs", well Vitor is the Master of NIPs.

I need to spend more time using Amethyst. I've been using Primal as my daily driver since forever but it can be a bit buggy at times. Amethyst from the get-go can be a bit overwhelming with the sheer amount of info and such thrown at you. It's cool though, I guess I've just been a little intimidated to explore it and get a handle on it

I have a problem with Amethyst - too much stuff in it. I like Primal, it's quite minimalistic with a lot of possibilities and customization. But it's not far from the legacy web and have issues with basic stuff, despite the subscription. Lately I've been using YakiHonne daily. It's a great client for me, stable, beautiful and unique. However, I periodically download Amethyst just to check, and enjoy reading Vitor. We are lucky here in nostr, that such devs give their time and energy to creating something new 🫡

you can use what you like and i can use what i like. through user choice, we can all communicate together. the freedom of user choice should not be forgtten. it's powerful!

It is indeed 🫡

Amethyst has been buggy for me, breaking the back button on too many occasions, it's frustrating

I'm trying primal and yakihonne now and so far so good

Good, use freedom apps that don't use a social credit score system to censor nostr. Amethyst and Iris are the enemy of nostr

Wasn't primal also called out for censorship?

I have not heard anything. Please share.

censor? no. inability for certain users and their content to appear on trending? yes. they didn't want NSFW content on their trending list. they also had a few attackers spamming notes to game their trending list. those users were all filtered out of trending as a quick fix. my friend ralf was accidentally filtered out too. that was a mistake. they fixed it. and they fixed their entire process too. they now have a better handle on their algorithm, have manu user configurable options, and publish their algorithm for review.

all of the other apps that use nostr.band's trending algo literally have filters and content removed too, but no one complains about their implementation or nostr.band's ranking system - that's closed source.

Primal and Yakihonne are very smooth and have less bugs, but also have less features. It's a trade off for many people. I love Amethyst's options even if it is buggy.

I use 3 different devices and 4 clients in order to be able to use nostr fully and effectively. :)

i think it's good on android

It's still uses a massive amount of background data so I've turned off background data for amethyst.
