I was trying to be generous but I agree.

Ego shows up in arguments a lot though which (back to my point) could be a side effect of human design or intended as part of the design. I'm not sure which it is.

Is the outcome for everyone better when we argue with ego?

I think most issues aren’t resolved until the ego is identified by both sides in a discussion or else it’ll eventually turn into an argument.

There's also subjective vs objective truth. Would you say conquering ego is sage-like and ideal but difficult for most?

I'm not sure it's ideal to be ego-less always. We probably have egos for a reason. They are often silly passengers in most cases though.

I heard somewhere:
