The question of terror is as old as the liberation struggle itself. Revolutionaries are constantly confronted with the mainstream narrative that labels anti-colonial movements as “terrorists,” de-legitimizing their struggle. Watch as Pan-African Black Revolutionary Malcolm X expresses his support for the Mau Mau resistance movement in Kenya when a journalist tried to get him to condemn the movement, calling it a “terrorist organization” that “initiates acts of terrorism.”

Similarly, mainstream media today is quick to label the Palestinian resistance as consisting of “terrorists” that initiated an act of terror on October 7, totally ignoring the 75 years of brutal occupation at the hands of the Israeli state and Jewish settlers that forced the Palestinians to react and resist.
