If you’re noticing a lot of photos missing - see if you’re being rate limited by imgur. Copy the url of the image/video you are trying to load and then try viewing them in your browser.

Its not that. They got some lame ass vpn protection. Pasting link to browser wont help

I’m not saying it will help. I’m saying it shows you thats the problem. Has nothing to do with NIP 94/95…

Ok, yeah 🤙

Ah, now I see your point. Yes, as expected.

We getting somewhere boys!

I've been using nostrimg via Amethyst for the last few days and have had no complaints on my posts of images not being viewable. Imgur might be going downhill soon anyways?

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/04/hosting-site-imgur-will-remove-explicit-and-anonymous-content-next-month/

From the article:

The phrasing of "old, unused, and inactive content that is not tied to a user account" as something to be removed endangers a good deal of content that doesn't have a home elsewhere.

Absolutely. That will destroy a lot of old content.

Will try this thanks

This is a VPN issue for me. I kept switching servers until I found one that wasn't blocked. Major PITA.

Strangely, imgur never blocked my connection until today.

Yes, they’ve changed their rate limiting policies on data center IPs. This is my point.

Oh, I didn't realize it was related. Copying the url to my browser makes no difference, it's still blocked.

Indeed, it’s IP level.

Good catch Mazin!

Makes sense. There's no free lunch.

Imgur is rate limiting VPN users. A different VPN end point may help, switching servers seems to fix it sometimes.

Having trouble seeing images? Are you on a VPN? That may be why! Imgur seems to be rate limiting it's connections to data centers, and that is cutting off plebs from their meme fix. Try switching your VPN endpoint, that seems to work for most users.

Unrelated but unfortunate. Not surprising, though.
