Hi all, new to Nostr and would love to get up to speed by the innovators:

~ Does nostr algorithmically personalize my feed?

~ If so, who/what decides this?

~ Any tips to bear in mind using nostr?

Thank you all.

1. It depends on the client, Damus for example doesn't, but Primal for example provides also a Trending tab in their client, which shows the more popular posts in the recent time being

2. Client decides it

3. Practice safe nsec, and just don't be afraid to ask questions, happy to help

Mostly chronological posts, primal has this by default too but you can also choose 'tribe' or something other such thing to get follows of follows and what not.

Amethyst has an option to pick some feeds, called DVMs, eg posts about cats. But the default fees will be chronological.

You can follow hashtags on most clients. Which I would recommend. There's often nostr suffic hashtags too, like #bookstr

Hmm some more tips..

Don't follow too many people, but also don't follow too few lol

Um..

Bear in mind it's all WIP lol

Oh... you can use #asknostr to ask stuff, people follow that hashtag and reply 🤔

If you want privacy/anonymity, you'll have to take the usual methods (VPN, Tor, etc). Depending on how DM's are implemented on a client, you may or may not, want to use that feature; due to meta data "leaks".

There are some clients that show a "most popular in last 24hrs" or "trending", but otherwise it's only who you've actively followed.

Bitcoin features are optional, but encouraged. Reactions are a dime a dozen, but posts that add real value will often have lots of "zaps".
