How does Nostr beat or compete these incentives?
Or is it just a different beast altogether?

Ideologically I get it. No censorship, choosing algos instead of addicting yourself to nonsense etc. is the hope that zaps start paying out for real?

Super serious. They have legit reach. Not sure exactly how many impressions. Elon retweets and comments sometimes on his stuff.
The guy I work for is right at the 15million impressions (the number needed to qualify for payouts) over the last 3 months. So it's exciting..

Indeed. One other thing I can't get out of my head is how much thinking I/we in the team are always thinking in algorithm vs what's actually important.
Might be a feature to think in algo because we make more entertaining stuff, but also a bug in that it's always chasing virality
Yeah. That is a real thing. I’ll never forget the conversation in Uvita with Shannon (spelling?!) about that. The algo is a feature not a bug for creators.
But I’m with you, feels like it has to be long-term negative given how fickle and weak out simple animal brains are most of the time.

How does email compete with the incentive to communicate via Twitter?
that's confusing. it says "youre receiving $x" followed by "your portion"... wtf. is the user not receiving all of that $?
I wondered the same. I guess if we would build advertising on NOSTR all the rewards could go on creators and relays instead of going to shareholders and executives. However ad is about scale.
Advertisers are the primary driver of content moderation on social media. If nostr is censorship-resistant, advertisers won’t come.
It can't compete, until you post something Twitter decides de-monetizes you. Then it's easy to compete with 0$.
It's the advertisers, not Twitter, that are paying the influencers. Indirectly, they will also dictate what these influencers are allowed to talk about. ("he who pays the piper..."). Basically, everyone with reach power on twitter is now captured.
Elon, the free speech advocate, has set up an incentive structure that will destroy free speech on twitter!

X sticks with legacy tactics of heavy algorithms and paying of celebrities to post. All you will see on there is what X wants you to see.
We are heading to user choice first. This is why Netflix succeeded. People wanted to choose what to watch not just what cable networks tell you to watch .
