β€œIf you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.”

―Haruki Murakami, Norwegian Wood

I would love to hear your most obscure book recommendations.

Give me the weirdest, niche book that tickled the neurons in your cranium! I will zap every recommendation, thanks!

Good note!πŸ™πŸ˜πŸ’œπŸ˜†πŸ‘πŸ’―β€ΌοΈ

We definitely need to expose ourselves to thinking outside of our echo-chamber/comfort zone if we are ever to learn and mature.πŸ˜†

Some of the most thought-provoking information I've ever encountered comes from libertarian/anarchist sources.

I'd recommend Larken Rose's "The Most Dangerous Superstition" and the "V50 Lectures" as real eye-openers.

There are others, and I'll pass them along as I remember them...

One extremely important one would be the book John the Apostle (follower) wrote about Jesus, especially if you can possibly read it in Greek?

I have no doubt that I can learn much from you, and I hope you might learn a thing or two from me.πŸ™πŸ˜πŸ’œπŸ˜†β€ΌοΈπŸ’―πŸ‘

I suspect we could have some very interesting conversations also. I'm not opposed to this at all.

Scheduling a long formal interaction will be the largest hurdle. Technology has negated geography but we might be obstructed by Schedules and obligations. You have my attention.

No need, friend, for a "long, formal conversation." We can simply interact as time and energy permit over nostr in any combination of public and private notes.πŸ˜πŸ’œπŸ˜†πŸ™πŸ‘

I always recommend Name of the Wind (trilogy) to people when they asked. Second book especially was good.

The writing is a jΓt infantile but the magic system is so beliavable!

"Der silberne Wagen" ErzΓ€hlungen von Ernst Wiechert

The Short History Of the World According to Sheep by Sally Coulthard

The Root of Wild Madder by Brian Murphy

Uprooted by Naomi Novik (fantasy fiction)

The first two are about fiber arts. I adore them both so so much because that's my life's work.

The third is a fantasy book that a friend recommended that I really enjoyed. A very different feeling kind of fantasy, almost fairytale like in writing.

None of the below authors/books are really β€œobscure” in their countries, quite contrary, but for me they were totally unknown before discovered: Cathedral by Raymond Carver (a short story not necessarily the whole collection), The Art of Murder by J.C. Somoza, Alphabet by Inger Christensen.

While not obscure, I recommend "Stranger In A Strange Land" as it is very thought provoking.

If you like the Shannara series by terry brooks, then I recommend "The Word and The Void" series. It is the prequel to the Shannara books followed by the "Genesis of Shannara" series which bridges the gap to the rest.

I'd zap you but you don't seem to be conductive. Got to set up that lightning wallet!

Thanks for the recommendations!

You are welcome!

My wallet of satoshi address hasn't changed since I set it up. Still getting sats. It might be operator error...

Oh look at that it works now. Must have been on my side: I was having some internet connection issues last night. So here you go #ZapZap

I’d still say my favourite book this year has been Softwar by Jason Lowery. And Broken Money by Lyn Alden. I’m just working through Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand right now. Despite its fictional basis, I like the writing style and the allegory to current world events.
