For nearly 5 years, I've been trying to figure out what this adapter is supposed to connect to. It's still a mystery. Someday, the right person is going to see this post and they'll finally solve this puzzle.

It looks like it just converts an RS-232 serial mouse to either PS2 or the Apple mouse port. Is that not it?

And as Sun's similar port to Apple also had mouse port on the keyboard I'm guessing it's for like a device that would be both PC and Apple compatible where keyboard&mouse would be needed, an old KVM switch maybe?
