I was at my local bakery the other day, and I saw an electrical heater in the shop… It bothered me because I was thinking to myself that they could use a miner as a spaceheater too…

I kinda want to do the talk with them and try to convince them. But how on earth would you convince someone who has no clue about Bitcoin to buy a #bitcoin miner in order to heat up their shop? Buying Bitcoin already seems crazy to some people, let alone buying a (expensive) machine that mines bitcoin and actually heats up a room too.

What’s your take on this?

A quick cost calculator would be handy. That calculator should incorporate all variables necessary, so the shop owner can estimate the total return on invest.

True true. But then again, keep in mind they have nothing to do with Bitcoin, probably think that it’s a scam or whatever

There should be an economic factor for them. Offer to buy a heater which is much more beautiful and fits well in their interiour in exchange for getting receiving sats from mining and free bread or pastries. Maybe you can take the old heater as well.

Excuse me?

If I was an owner who is not interested in Bitcoin, I wouldn't want to buy a heater if current one works well, unless there is a real deal without much oprational overhead. I am here to bake bread, but not to bother myself with Bitcoins.

Yep indeed…

They use roughly the same amount of watts as well so it’s not like you would be using more energy to mine rather than running a simple heater.

True… but the heater is far cheaper than a miner…

Maybe buy one and offer to pay the utility bill associated with it and split the bitcoin 1:1. Later they can assume more of the cost and more of the bitcoin until they assume all cost and keep all bitcoin.

Side note, I thought bakeries were warm with all the oven use going on.🧑‍🍳🥖

if you have a trustful relationship and the owner knows you, I would go for it. otherwise, you won‘t ever pierce through…. it is super early. i would maximum show them a picture and provide a link and thats it. they probably would never do it because they are scared of doing something illegal..

That’s exactly how I think about it

I remember mining litecoin back in the day. That cooked the room.

Bake your own bread. Sooner or later they'll discover.

That’s also an option of course. I’ll do that once I’m able to
