Yup, saw that. And that January will see great change, one way or another.
There's already too many people.
It's good to have a largely unregulated messaging platform.
But I don't enjoy these nerdy little corners when the masses descend. It goes from a fun club to walking down a city sidewalk.
Otoh, I'm not sure how unregulated this place is. I haven't seen anything particularly shocking.
The more I think about it, maybe we should just abolish the Senate.
At first I was thinking, well, the state should have a say. Then I was thinking, well, maybe the states shouldn't have a say over what other states do. That power should belong to the house. The people are sovereign (in writing anyway) after all.
States have their own land to rule. They don't need federal control beyond what they can influence through the house.
Also the house needs to be bigger. Way way bigger.
Can someone explain to me how the filibuster is a good thing? And I mean the 60 vote senate crap.
If someone wants to fill a buster... Make. Them. Speak.
I don't mind if it's the real thing, but the 60-vote thing is stupid.

Sheesh way to shrink philosophy down to one tiny branch of itself.
DEFUND THE ROADS!
It's the only way to save us.

This is fun.

I am against the death panalty.
Is it a deterant? Sure. But the private nature of it blunts the effectiveness. They should be public to have proper effect.
But, it's the public aspect that's real important.
I say bring back the stockades.
That's going to be far more useful than privately killing people.
And move the stockades around. Put them infront of shopping centers, supermarkets, parks...
Alternatively, we could have chain gangs march through the cities. Same idea, put punishment in full view of the public, but possibly harder to secure.

If they made anything, they'd make a "pro"
Sure do. I've used dming before and it worked. Haven't tried in a long time.
This is just funny, but I question such a high ranking person being so exposed on the street.

Dunno what this is about.
Politics? Entertainment?
I said before that I didn't agree with their public reasoning to pull the show, but it really looks like late night shows have been dying and hemmoraging money. Especially on broadcast.
Or is Disney just trying to push a narrative dispite their losses? Or maybe somebody got a huge pay cut. Contracts? Who knows?

But voice is physical...
I thought vance said that.
I enjoyed this.
A fairly accurate description of violence in western #politics from an outside source.

Knife wounds tend to be nastier, well, unless it's a large caliber...
Who stabs themselves with guns?
(I now fully expect to stab myself next time I'm near a gun.)
Just a bunch of blah blah blah with no point to be made ><.
Here's the tl;dr
"one group calls him a saint, the other, my group, does not. He was a bad man because of a bunch of lables I attribute to him with no examples. Thus, we live in a post truth world."
For fuck's sake, at least try to make a point. Preferably with examples to support
accusations.
Geopolitically, it's a huge military asset. Not just the base, but it's in a great location.
Easy to defend, and a great spot to launch operations from.
It'll give us a power center to help stabalize the region, and give us access to others.
And for all those same reasons, we need to keep it from our adversaries.
Personally,
I've been there and loved the scenery.
That'd be the deal of deals. Bagram is an awesome place.
Thanks, turns out I need to be more patient. Or fix it so it stays open.
Perhaps, but words encourage or discourage violence.

Zaps, likes, and comments seem to have disapeared after the lattest amethyst updates.
My notification history is gone too.
Can anyone see my posts anymore? I'm not sure I'll see replies even if you do.
What about Ukraine? He basically went full dictator by purging opposing parties and speech.
But, tell me more what happened with Hungary?
I assume negativity towards them is due to the EU wanting to screw them over (well the marketing behind that anyway), but there could be something real there, I'd like to know.
I feel like these two things are seperate ideas.
It's possible to have free speech under authoritarianism.
On the right? A bit yea, but most of the left is encourging violence against speech, a disturbing amount celebrate silencing speech via murder, and some are even outright calling to kill peoole for their speech (See:Destiny).
I'm all in for free speech, but not consequence free speech. Celebrating and encouraging violence is not to be tolerated. And I hope we can get there not with laws, but culture.
I'm not saying I have the answers, but the violence must not be allowed to continue.
And from what I've been hearing, it looks like there may be bipartiasn work towards that end.
Again, I prefer culture to law, but I'm open to it.
There is legit concern about a political party being removed, but they are also a national threat. Tough times.
My hope is that the Democrat party fails and is replaced with another.
Maga is largely old school democrat, they could even fill the spot by splitting from the GOP.
Though, I'd like to see new ideas more than that. But I could actually see maga replacing dems.
That all said, democrats in power seem to be in damage control over the murder celebrations...
The show is thrilling though, I wonder if the history books will capture the crazy of our times.
Ai is weird though. It's (at least in part) a collabrative experience.
There is zero reason to believe anything. Thusly, we react to the stories we hear and use those how we can.
Money's been fixed for a long long time...
In that case just do it.
Linux Mint is an old favorite of mine for general purpose. I actually have it set up in a home server box for various things. Super easy to install and get running.
Archlinux sounds scary, especially if you are new, but the instructions are clear and well documented, it's a great way to dabble in several areas of Linux just getting it set up.
Play games on Steam? Checkout bazzite Linux, I use it on a handheld. A bit limited for playing around with Linux due to some technical decisons.
On desktop I use VoidLinux, but that one is best for people well versed in the Linux ecosystem.
I'd suggest installing Linux Mint and just use it for a while. If you get stuck on something ask your favorite LLM for help, or ask us for a (hopefully) more human connection.
If you have even more spare hardware (or use virtual machines) install other Linux distributions to toy with.
This way you can risk braking other systems without breaking your main one.
The big thing in the Linux world is choices.
People, in general, have proven to have a general distaste for having choices, which I believe is the biggest hurdle for most people.
This all might sound like a lot, but really, if you were to just install Linux Mint, you'd probably be fine with its defaults and not have to make any choices beyond that to have a happy desktop experience.
