Bonjour Mallory 💜 wait, you don’t drink coffee?
Discussion
I’ll drink coffee occasionally.
Even when I hung out at coffee shops I was more likely to have tea than coffee.
I actually love coffee. But I try to avoid it 🥹 I feel better without it
I love a really good cup of coffee too. I just prefer it to be something I enjoy occasionally and not something I feel like I can’t function without. I’m sensitive to caffeine, it screws up my sleep so easily. So I’d rather have a good nights rest.
I never acquired the taste for coffee. On the rare occasions I do drink it, I have to adulterate it with some other flavor like mocha or pumpkin spice. I drank a lot of tea for a while, but my dentist complained about the stains. 🙄
Black tea stains the teeth and even mugs so bad. At one point I switched to green tea because it was less staining to the teeth. Then I gave up all caffeine.
Yeah, adequate sleep is better than habitual caffeine, in my opinion.
We drink a lot of tea and coffee and all of our mugs get terribly stained. I homebrew beer and use Pro Brewery Wash (PBW) to clean up after a brew day. I discovered that it also works wonders on stained mugs.
To clean coffee and tea stains on mugs (NOT teeth) put a tablespoon of PBW in half a gallon of hot water. Not boiling, only like as hot as your hands can stand. Soak the mug for 15-30 minutes and the stain wipes right off. It has never damaged any of the printing on the mugs.

You can get it at any homebrew shop or online.
Barkeeper’s Friend works a treat too on stained mugs no soaking required. Available at most grocers, targets, etc.
My secret for cleaning mugs after black tea: rinse the mug and shake in some baking soda, enough to be just a bit dry but clump up. Smear it all around the mug and watch all that staining come right up. It’s amazing how well baking soda cleans so many things…
My intuition is baking soda toothpastes clean tooth enamel similarly, but even if you keep swearing off caffeine, this trick can really deep clean any mugs you still have.
