I've never once watched a super bowl for the sport. I generally hate football. I always watched for the commercials. Even today, I don't care about the game. I look forward to hanging out with family, friends, eating, drinking, having a party, and seeing what hilarious or crazy commercials are released.

so it's actually a marketing frenzy over a football event
It's a marketing frenzy because it's the most watched football event of the year. Or any TV show for that matter.
oh i meant that in a good way
but i could never enjoy the sports played like that
There’s maybe 20 minutes of actual football. It’s a marketing skeet show 😂
okay wait - this is not sarcastic??
ye same
i am so bearish
ppl actually excited to watch ads with family
i am buffled and flooged, flabbersplodged - cat caught my toung even
i never knew
i am still surprised people even have a cable network contract these days
cabal tv
demoralised people want someone to tell them what to believe
i too am confused, every year again, why i still habnt cut off the cable contract
no joke i should cancel it i dont use it even
The Super Bowl is by far the highest advertisement cost $/second of any event each year. Companies spend insane amounts of money producing and running these ads, often new products are announced, etc.
It is stupid, but it’s not unusual for Americans to particularly care about ads on this one day per year.
(re: the commercials part)
no. commercials are the best part of the super bowl. always have been.
today i learnnnnned
The Budweiser commercials were always the most memorable as a kid 😂 Like this one from 1996
From that to this …. SMH
Not anymore. All they do is take a celebrity who was famous 30 years ago and stick him in a commercial and it’s the peak of hilarity for some reason. Irony has ruined humor
This is also me. Working in advertising agencies for years, we mostly just talked about the commercials.
