As long as the local vet is not a part of a huge vet conglomerate like VCA.

Why the f… do vets need to be in a conglomerate ?
pet healthcare business is big - health insurance, etc. When we were looking for our dog, several breeders would not sell to you unless you agreed (contractually) not to use a VCA vet.
