Choice Mushrooms at the Adelaide farmer’s market this morning. They generally have quite a few different varieties of oyster mushrooms, lions mane, chestnuts and sometimes shiitake.

I think there is also a place in the central market that sells them but I’m not sure if theirs are locally grown.

Is Shiitake Japanese?

I believe they were originally from somewhere in asia but I’m not entirely sure. These ones were grown locally here in Australia but I don’t think they are a native variety.

Morels are great too. I’ve occasionally been able to buy them here but not common as from what I’ve been told there is only a short season for them and they can really only available by foraging.

Thinking back to the first time I had a mushroom that I didn’t spit out was my grandma’s wake’s luncheon. It was real food. I was seven
