**Why am I bullish on Nostr?**

Open protocols are the backbone of a fair and decentralized internet. They allow for innovation, competition and collaboration, enabling a level playing field for all. By using open protocols, we can ensure that no single entity has control over the flow of information and that everyone has equal access to all of the protocol's benefits. Adopting open protocols also helps to protect our privacy, security, and ensures that the internet remains a public good for future generations. This is why Nostr (and Bitcoin) will win. **This is why we never stop innovating. This is why we never stop building.**

Right:) ps. Can you provide feedback on our venture sub studio’s plan focused on creating sufficiently decentralized social networks at scale? Your input would be greatly appreciated as I value diverse perspectives on this topic.

We are leveraging Farcaster and Nostr at this particular moment in time

*Built on the sufficiently decentralized Farcaster network and fueled by the Tezos chain ecosystem.*

Why not just use Nostr and Bitcoin?

I don’t exclude that :) I Wanna use different protocols cause i wanna test what the end user will focus on. So I might A B test products on both Farcaster\Tez\ etc And Nostr / Bitcoin. Wanna use Nostr for at least half of our ideas and features

Dedicated to this... we are winning!

Well said Derek!

Agreed

I’ve been wondering what happened to the old internet (if it ever went away). Any good sources on the story here?

How did the internet become so centralized? Was it just the ads model and winner-takes-all dynamics, or were government involved?

It was the natural progression because we didn't have widespread infrastructure that could scale accordingly.

personally i think its bc all our known forms of coordination for blocking bad actors relies on centralized methods. this is the one reason I really think pow should be tried, its the only form of coordination for blocking bad actors that i know of that is decentralized.

This was a nice read

Nostr has kicked the hornet's nest, and the swarm is headed towards us.

A lot of people automatically dismiss e-currency as a lost cause because of all the companies that failed since the 1990's. I hope it's obvious it was only the centrally controlled nature of those systems that doomed them. I think this is the first time we're trying a decentralized, non-trust-based system.

you are probably somewhat correct here. i don't know if the obviousness of centralized versus decentralized would be obvious for everyone though. that said, it takes a generation for people to realize that a product, service, or something is going to just always be there. this will happen soon enough with bitcoin.

Indeed. I was just replying to a Satoshi quote with another Satoshi quote 😃

#nostr is good for bitcoin because it makes bitcoin taproot Turing Complete

Decentralization just gives users more possibilities. They wont come for the decentralization, they'll come for the apps and functionality

Hmm. I have failed. I did not realize either of those were Satoshi quotes. 😉

Can you please elaborate on “nostr makes bitcoin taproot Turing Complete”?

Bitcoin scripts use taproot, but they are purposefully limited

#nostr takes taproot, and is much more powerful and expressive. Two main things that are added to make something Turing Complete are conditional branching (logic) and loops (repeatability).

The result is that any type of computation can be run on nostr. Furthermore, it will be possible to anchor certain things to the block chain, if needed, giving audibility and tamper proof systems
