I don't think the Amish have found nostr yet. It still seems to be a popular crop for them around here. If you see it in fields around you you could probably get some info by patronizing local Amish shops. They likely have varieties well adapted to your local conditions as well..

It's usually blend of a few different types with some different methods of preparation.

That said, Virginias generally make up the bulk of the blend with some Burley and/or Oriental tobacco varieties to change the flavor and smoking characteristics.

I grew some and made chewing tobacco from Virginia bright leaf
