Are you asking about this model specifically, or Yubikeys in general?
I've had great success using one for years. I can basically ignore my Google password being pwned and just rely on my hardware key.
Just in general. I started watching some videos on it. Do you need to run Linux? I'm not tech savvy and the video has the person setting it up through Linux and tails.
I'm not sure what the purpose of the touch detecting sensor is for. I use one of these for a job to connect to the VPN
wait, now I get it. It's so a remote attacker can't access the vpn if they get access to my laptop.
Yep, I have one and the other model with lightning/usb-c as a backup
No issues with it, I only use it to auth with Bitwarden, my main email accounts and exchanges
Everything else I leave to Bitwarden’s TOTP
Just make sure you get at least two yubikeys, so you don’t lock yourself out. And keep one at a separate geographical location just in case of fire etc
Do you have to run Linux with it? Video I was watching guy set it up through there
Nah Linux isn’t a requirement, you just use the yubico Authenticator app to interact with them. That runs on pretty much everything, including Linux
I set it up with my laptop first, making sure I set a pin on the yubikey so other people can’t physically mess with it. But I use it mostly with my phone, or plug directly into laptop when I need to
okay cool. because I'm almost tech inept lol. They were running on linux then had a second laptop to airgap it etc..
I'm wanting to learn linux but it's way down on my list of things to do and learn.
