Tailscale’s coordination server officially blocks Russian IP connections, but it actually works 80% of the time. I’m glad that it does because that’s how I’m online right now.

That said, I’ll need to set up my own coordination server to be fully independent. There’s an open-source project called Headscale that serves this purpose.

I don’t think mass interest can be triggered. People in Russia like popular shiny western things (say, X or Facebook) with a tiny minority interested in something like Nostr. But I think it’s less about Russia and more about general population.
