I don’t use alby’s extension because it conflates unlocking the extension for nostr stuff and for the lightning wallet. Having to constantly re-enter my password is a hurtle I don’t want to be jumping all the time.

You had mentioned this before... what was your browser setup again? why do you need to re-enter your password (in the same browser session)
Interesting, you only put password at first launch of the browser.
Anyway, Alby is first and foremost lightning wallet and doing a Nostr-only version kinda doesn't make sense for us. There's Nostr Connect redesigned by @Karnage that is exactly that

I think fundamentally the security and user experience you want for a wallet is different than for an identity provider, which is what nostr connect is.
And personally, I never have more than a couple hundred thousand sats in any lightning wallet. I’d honestly rather have good smooth UX even if there was a chance somebody would steal all the sats. I get that others treat the lightning wallet with the same security they’d use for a full btc wallet, but that’s not me.
I promise we will make it much easier soon 🙏 I just had great session about this with nostr:npub1e5tfhk8m65teu25dfx8lcvwn4c8ypqjl72u2sh4rt8zy2kss0j5qct7mh9 and we came up with good solutions I think. thank you for your feedback!
