The money must follow the king.

- People will always follow bad actors. See: cults and fraudsters

- The ritual of killing the king is clearly not applicable in the modern age, as no-one assinates leaders anymore

The only way "turning away" and choosing a new king works, is if the king is a proxy for a monetry system. Capable people will follow the new king, and increasingly ask for their time to be exchanged for the new money.

A bit generalized. There is a huge hidden part of the population that follows nobody.

They follow power

They who?

The people who don't follow anyone follow power.

They follow power because they will interact most with the dominant system.

Most people I know and myself follow independence. Having power over others or being under control are both odious things. We produce things, stay hidden from mainstream, have an above average income and pretend are quite poor because we give zero interest in social positioning. Our only position is by ourselves. Yes this is problematic because this society teaches that people have a position on the scale that can be easily inferred by clothes, cars, house and lavish lifestyle. Not one of my friends is interested in that. So that they means a part of the population very visible but nevertheless a minority.

Oh, I'm from a completely different world. That sounds comfy.

I'm in a working class environment.

Insurance and mortgage providers are sovereign in my world, pretty much controlling 60% of behaviour.

Well I understand. For many reasons, good opportunities and attitude I was able to get out of many constrains so I am quite free to move and choose different paths. Hope you find your freedom too. It's scary but it's fun

wtf fren?!

I'm a royalist. ( whereby a king is an avatar for the people )

actual irl?

I can only LARP. I'm in uk, but uk is a republic in practice.

Mybe Thailand has a functional Royalty.

UK is Kings land, how is that working out?

It's the king's land till it isn't, or it's the new king's land.

I think I get some of the cultural aversion

Alex Krainer meanted some evidence that king George was poisoned, so really in 1775 UK was not a led by a sovereign. king George was the oligarch's avatar. I want a mechanism to elect an avatar for the people.

e.g. If all the good mechanics choose a new king, any work after their bill's are covered must be paid in money with their chosen king's head on it.
