Sure, Bitcoin is literally a cryptocurrency. It's the first. But "crypto" has colloquial meaning. "Crypto" is not Bitcoin, and Bitcoin is not "crypto".

Satoshi himself crafted the word. Monero very much is in line with its meaning. Even more so than Bitcoin.

But you are correct. 99.999% of all "cryptocurrencies" are neither crypto nor currency.
