I got a Framework PC so that it would be repairable, upgradeable and last longer. I failed to realise that I don't know how how to repair a computer...
After just 6 months I've had to replace the mainboard. Thankfully Framework shipped it to me (free).
It took some work and helpful guides, but I am now extremely proud to be typing this on a PC that I took apart and rebuilt myself!
I did learn a lot...
Also... thank God for backups!

It's funny how daunting it is before you do it and how easy it gets when you realize how much it's just like legos.
I've rebuilt my desktop so many times the only original component left is the case -- a real ship of Theseus. The original build was done with a steak knife because I'd just moved in and didn't have a screwdriver in the apartment 14 years ago.
Hadn't heard of Framework. While I'm not sure I see a need on desktops, someone finally making an accessible laptop case is very welcome, because those things have always been a nightmare.
It's incredibly frustrating to have to fix weird or complex issues, especially if money is tight, but there's also some real satisfaction when you're able to fix it. Good work!
