Google+ used to have a global feed. They killed it after a while and users really felt that pain for a long while. As you said, it was a great discovery tool when your own feed was not hoppin' and you wanted to look for something new.
I loved Google+ it was so refreshing - why did they have to kill it!
Ugh. As a former Google Maxi... Google kills way too many things. They are very scatterbrained. The Google way is to build 2 of everything and then merge and kill them.
I have heard rumors that every engineer has to submit a product or something like that and they release most of them for some reason but with the intention of killing it. I can’t remember why, but it was like kinda slimy reasoning. 2 ex Googlers exposed it a while back I think. I really wish I knew where that was because it was interesting and really explained a lot…
Google used to allow employees to spend 20% of their work day working on other things, side projects, their own projects, etc.
