I think I underestimated the importance of the Global feed. Everybody is asking for it.

I hope we never lose it. Even when it’s impossible to keep up with. It’s still the pulse.
Google+ used to have a global feed. They killed it after a while and users really felt that pain for a long while. As you said, it was a great discovery tool when your own feed was not hoppin' and you wanted to look for something new.
I loved Google+ it was so refreshing - why did they have to kill it!
Ugh. As a former Google Maxi... Google kills way too many things. They are very scatterbrained. The Google way is to build 2 of everything and then merge and kill them.
I have heard rumors that every engineer has to submit a product or something like that and they release most of them for some reason but with the intention of killing it. I can’t remember why, but it was like kinda slimy reasoning. 2 ex Googlers exposed it a while back I think. I really wish I knew where that was because it was interesting and really explained a lot…
Google used to allow employees to spend 20% of their work day working on other things, side projects, their own projects, etc.

Yes , on the search part of the app , doesn't it show the global feed ? I'm seeing everyone on that part .
Is the public chat essentially the global feed or no? if not, then yes, i'd like it as it allows me to find new nostriches to follow.

Global feed is a powerful feature. Can be ignored when you don’t need it. But it connects us to the rest of nosterverse that we’re part of.
Note that refresh speed on global is a notable challenge, might also be worth noting to users how much data/bandwidth it adds (per relay?)
It's important until you get a critical mass of people you follow.. right now there's only Devs and cryptobros I am still waiting for the people I follow on Twitter.
Yeah its pretty important actually. Especially for people coming from ActivityPub not twitter (we exist)
No. It's great under the 🔍 (which is the intuitive place for it, IMO), and the Nostr chat is good enough, too.
It's important while nostr is young. Allows to find eachother easily.
I rarely use it, so imo keep it where it is
Not fond of them but they are useful to find new users.
Media and profile pics from users you don’t follow should not be automatically downloaded.
The feed moves fast, so load it when opening it or with user action.
