In a shareholder meeting, #NCsoft Co-CEO and acting chairman Park Byeong-moo basically announced that #ArenaNet is working on #GuildWars3.

> ArenaNet has a meaningful IP called ‘Guild Wars’, and after Guild Wars 2, they are currently working on ‘Guild Wars 3’.

This is all based on MassivelyOP's translation of a report in a #Korean press article:

There's _got_ to be a statement by ANet in the coming days.

No. No. Fucking no. I escaped both GW and GW2 by the skin of my teeth. They can't do this right now.

Chill. If this is really true, it's in a very early stage and gonna be years until release.

Usually, when it's announced in a board/shareholders meeting, it has been underway for at least a year already. The real question is, are they going to continue receiving funding for it?

They used it as an example to give confidence to stakeholders that they're not stagnant. It doesn't mean the final product will be #GuildWars3. Consider it a project name, it can still evolve into an entirely new franchise.

Also, #NCsoft is known to do that during a high level meeting. 😉 Only to end up with a different product, or it was scrapped (for a lot of reasons) without any update. It remains a stakeholder information, not directly from the devs, that way they're not obligated to give updates, and can quietly change it or discard it. 😅

Anyway, it's NCsoft Korea. The main HQ. They do say a lot of things to boost confidence. 😊 One thing is for sure, there is indeed a project that they've been working on for at least a year now.

P.S., They also use terms differently than the rest. "Guild Wars 3" when what they actually meant was the 1 expansion per year project for #GuildWars2. (Disclaimer: I've worked with gaming companies, it's a common practice to use a grand name when they meant something else. 🤪 (And I hate it when I'm the one writing the press release and speech copies, lol. As a gamer, I don't agree with it, but it's part of the job. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ)

P.S.2 Some people were "leaking" GW3 since 2021, I think they were testing the waters, trying to gauge the community. So, yes, it is possible it could very well be GW3.
