I often find myself trapped in overthinking it. I print every mix revision in the daw so that it is easy to go back and listen to where I started.

I also find it helps to take breaks often. When I come back after a break and will listen to the whole song from start to finish and make notes. I will then only work on those notes. Take a break, come back and repeat.
