March is almost done. Many who began #MarchOffTwitter kept to it. Many gave up. Many never committed to it in the first place. Whatever your experience was this month, it was what you made of it.

When #MarchOffTwitter first showed up on my feed I was already on the fence about whether to keep my Twitter account. I was using Twitter less and less, and so I deactivated my account which put it in a queue to be permanently deleted after a waiting period. As March comes to a close, I will not be reactivating my account nor going back to Twitter as a user, but will allow the account deletion process to complete itself.

Twitter is still a resource for current info, and I understand referencing it as such. But I don’t find Twitter to be a positive social network experience, nor do I find it anywhere nearly as useful as Nostr in terms of features, and most importantly freedom.

I don’t know what Elon’s end goal is with Twitter, but I have a hard time believing he truly wants free speech considering the changes he has made and continues to make. I truly hope I’m wrong and that he will surprise everyone. Twitter users deserve a good platform. But that’s neither here nor there for me, because Nostr is my social network now, and this is where I will continue to build and interact. Viva la Nostr! Pura vida! 💜🫂🤙

Elon went from free speech to $8 speech real quick

😂 I’m not even opposed to charging for access. But I think he’s focused way too much on pushing that, not enough of freedom. Should be the reverse. If it’s a platform people find valuable then they will pay. And the free experience should still be useful and freedom-focused, even if it needs ads or some other model to offset the cost of it. But I don’t see that happening with the decisions he’s making.

I have no problem paying for Twitter in principle, but at very least it should mean there are no ads. Either the user is the customer, or the advertisers are. I'm not paying if I am not the customer.

Also, given that "a lie can travel half way around the world, before the truth puts on its shoes", I am not going to pay for a platform that welcomes the well-organised and well-funded bad actors who are using it to spread conspiracy theories and dis-information.

I admit, I didn't stick to it but spent WAAAY less time on it this month than before

You’ll be uninformed and you’ll be happy

One day at a time

".. it was what you made of it."

Such is life .. 🤙🏼

While I was technically a day or two late to the march, I’m proud to say that I finished strong!

I've been a bit of a bi-birder.

Hard to purple pill people on Blue bird without using it. I also still used Spaces for my Sunday show but will be changing to Nests soon.

Definitely using blue much less and Nostr much more. I think will have to transition but people are seeing the benefits. Investing their time into something that cannot be rugged or where you are not the product is very motivating.

I think the April 15th changes will promote a further hiatus from Twitter. I think it’s beneficial for some Nostriches to remain in the trenches to help facilitate the transition to Nostr.

I really hope more people will get it

Nostr is just too small. I’ll back in twitter in three days 100 %.

No twitter for 30 days has been an interesting experience and showed me exactly how addicted I have been, what the twitter algo really does for me and why others who first made an nostr account but then rarely used a client at all.

They are all active on #twitter. Nostr isn‘t there yet in terms of user-activity and UX.

I love #nostr and keep using and pushing it but leaving twitter completely is a poor decision for most.

I found my community. 💜

It’s been fun and relaxing and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted when the whole $1M bet was going on and the banks were going down, but I’ve stayed the #MarchOffTwitter course and let’s be honest, it was a bunch of noisy bullshit anyways and for all the little moments of fun, I’d be right back into the outrage machine that is Elon’s Tweeitnam.
