I loved this movie, and I don't think there is ever a "good" or "bad" time for technology to be discovered by humans because we're always the same! Technology can and usually does increase both attributes of humanity, cooperation/abundance and coercion/destruction.

Oppenheimer and Einstein (who were friends with my great grandparents) unjustly carried the weight of humanities nature, but they, nor anyone, could ever change human nature.

Agree with all except for “nor anyone” -

We have the power to change ourselves. We’ve just been programmed to think we don’t. And change starts from within, from each individual, then becomes a collective.

That makes sense, we can definitely change ourselves, but I think there will always be people who want to be coercive and destructive, so technology will always be used that way by a subset of people.

Bitcoin is amazing because it actually incentivizes cooperation more than coercion and so it's possible that the majority of people will act cooperatively, and that's very exciting.
