With the increase of living cost and the "foundation-ation" of the concept of influencers, there is a whole generation that lives and strives to become such a personality ... for one reason, or another. This inevitably leads two a lot of fake smiles and personalities - let alone the paywalling.
I like Nostr for the fact that it is completely optional. See, I don't have a wallet connected and I can post just the same as anyone else - and in the same way, my post can be just a shout into the void exactly like everyone else too.

The internet has always evolved where the money was; be it virus spewing flash ads in the mid-2000s and popup spammers, or the insistence of tracking cookies and suff. So paywalls ought to be just another one of those evolutions.
