I don’t know, how true is it for nostr? I know many are hunting for zaps/sats, and probably a lot of content is optimized for that too. It’s hard for me to tell, but I am sure that this is not far from the truth. Platform/protocol is definitely not optimized for monetization, but content may as well be. What do you think? 🐶🐾🫡 nostr:note1fdplm27y7jea4tvd5e5jstan0c2dgesvav9mzp9s5mxx593xcd2qdzldk5

Some content is for sure. We both know an example of that 😉

And I’m sure people will adjust format to be most zapped.

Let’s enjoy this while we can.

Amen! 🐶🐾🫂🤣💜

i don't mind this, i guess that's how value4value works ... while outside of #nostr it is just about milking people.

That’s is true, to an extent. I’d rather be milked for sats than my private and time. I guess we just have to chose a lesser evil! 🐶🐾🫡

right, as long as i don't feel chaeted, i'm fine

Lol! 🐶🐾🫂 yes!

Your content can be quite funny though. I like that.

Thank you! I wish it was as zappy too! 🐶🐾🤣😂🫂🤙🏻

I like this aspect of #Nostr. Other social network platforms algorithmically boost visibility based on likes and shares.

There's no algorithm to game on Nostr. Instead, if you're optimizing for visibility, you're trying to create content that humans want, not bots. And if you're optimizing for zaps/sats, same deal.

Not yet, true. But if you go to primal.net you already have your home feed replaced by trending, etc. 🐶🐾🫡

That's on the client level, not protocol.

Yes, but the most popular client may implement something like this and people may like it. It’s good right now with a small crowd, if it was 10 times the size, or 100, then I am sure I’ll need some filtering and prioritization to make it work! 🐶🐾🫡

Certainly. But so long as the issue is not on the protocol level, anyone can spin up a new client - and they’re doing it already quite a bit. Since we’re usually comparing to Twitter right now (though this is only one Nostr use case), this is hugely a fundamentally different.

Totally agree 🐶🐾🫡🫂

Fishcake I don't post content for zaps or likes I like to have conversations if the took the zaps out of Nostr I think it would be far better but sadly the users who only come here for the zaps would leave, leaving the user numbers down. But I'm all for getting rid of zaps. I hate them Zapathons cause people are filing up the feed with memes that don't even come in to the app during the week

I think eventually this will weed out itself. Some people might be jumping on nostr hunting sats while pretending to be a different person to who they are etc etc but eventually it will fade or become less frequent. You can tell who's here for the sats and who's here because they belong here.

I think that at this point, all social media is inevitably going to be used for some form of monetization. However, I do believe that this will be less successful on nostr, at least in the short-term.

While nostr is primarily inhabited by Bitcoiners, "viral" and shallow content will be resented. It's just the wrong audience. As it becomes more mainstream, though, there's high potential for TikTok or bluebird flavors of content to succeed here. And when the normies come, so will companies, and those "viral" creators will easily be able to monetize.

I personally like Nostr because there are a lot of genuine conversations with real people. I’m not here the get zaps but they are a bit of fun and a nice way for acknowledgement of content that you like.

I think there are people posting for monetizaton and there will be more of that as Nostr grows. I don’t have any issues with that and good luck to them. The difference here is that there is no algorithm pushing that content on anyone and we all choose who we follow and what to zap. So I think the way to optimise content for zaps is to post things that people actually want to see, will repost to keep visibility, and feel is worthy of zaps!

Amen!!! I will second you if anybody ever challenges your direction.

What we forget when zapping is that you actually sends tiny money across the globe in seconds, no matter the time of day, week, holiday or not, for next to nothing.

Try that in traditional rails.

It's not just a good beginning; it's an extraordinary leap forward. I've forged profound connections that surpass my wildest imagination, and zapping is pretty awesome.

With the increase of living cost and the "foundation-ation" of the concept of influencers, there is a whole generation that lives and strives to become such a personality ... for one reason, or another. This inevitably leads two a lot of fake smiles and personalities - let alone the paywalling.

I like Nostr for the fact that it is completely optional. See, I don't have a wallet connected and I can post just the same as anyone else - and in the same way, my post can be just a shout into the void exactly like everyone else too.

Monetization of things is only going to increase; look at the "Life as a service" trend. Bought a car that has built-in seat heating? Hah, can't use it without a sub!

The internet has always evolved where the money was; be it virus spewing flash ads in the mid-2000s and popup spammers, or the insistence of tracking cookies and suff. So paywalls ought to be just another one of those evolutions.
