When people talk about lockdowns, mostly they refer to business closures and idiotic government rules.

In Victoria we refer to the 262 days of lockdown, 200+ with an 8pm-5am curfew and 5km from home distance restrictions, where people were “allowed 1 hour outdoor time” so that the government could pursue a “zero Covid” policy and set the police on the people like a pack of rabid dogs to enforce it.

If you’ve not seen this video, encourage you to take a look at the length’s government will go to to enforce their will. https://nostr.build/av/f78b83083cc7e21e328bee678a370e075a51f5f6fa215276f2dacef97c94eb10.mov

Damn mate you live in Vic? They always go full totalitarian. Was a sad day watching that.

And part of the reason people stayed and/or got sick was by being forced inside.

I remember seeing the coppers arresting a surfer. As if he was actually threatening the safety of any one. The waves were maybe saved that day from being shredded 😂

Whole thing was blown out of proportion and simply a test to see how much power the government could have and if the soft-brains would comply to their every command.

Yeah Melbourne is disproportionately left wing and this place went nuts for it.

Surfers, grannies on park benches, people on outdoor pubcrawls, a guy kayaking - the cops went full Auth arresting anyone they came across. There’s video of them checking coffee cups as you had to be masked outdoors unless drinking so they were ensuring people weren’t just carrying empty coffee cups to bypass that rule.

Melbourne and Canberra (pre-Covid) had Vit D deficiency rates of over 50% in winter and these cunts forced everyone indoors 23 hours a day - little wonder ppl got sick.

I’ll never forget the 6km car lineup to go to a Covid testing site near my place. Imagine forcing someone who might be sick to sit in a car with other people for 8 hours to test if they’re sick…

That period was the most insane thing I’ve personally ever witnessed. Real eye opener about policing, they’ve lost the public here and it will be years before they even get back to neutral

The kicker is thinking you need a test to know whether or not you're sick 😂

You can break people’s brains pointing that out to them now, they just blindly did what they were told without thinking about how stupid it was

Never forget

If only the ppl there knew who ordered it. Sigh….

Sincere question, do you think that was mostly Victoria and NSW repression or entire Australia is somewhat "doomed" in those terms.

If you can/could move, where would it be?

It was mostly Victoria who went full retard. 2 people self-immolated here when the vax mandates were in full swing which was heavily suppressed by the media, suicides rose and were covered up, people were jailed for total bullshit and the economy was utterly rekt.

Western Australia had their own special breed of pyschosis becoming a hermit kingdom and would have been as brutal if their protests were as large.

NSW Gov was bad but nowhere near VIC. NSW Police were and always have been pieces of shit, they were flying around in helicopters telling teenagers to go home because of lockdown rules..

Australia was terrible overall and worse in the left-leaning areas. The “no worries she’ll be right” attitude Aussies were famous for went out the window and became total statism with people calling the cops on neighbours for being outside for longer than their “allowed time”.

I plan to leave and have a few options but am waiting to see how things play out before deciding where and when.

Do you think the entire circumstance would have been much different with an armed population?

💯

No way would they have gone as far as they did

I watched that video. It made my blood boil. Consequences be damned I would have torn the testicles off of that asshole choking the girl with my bare hands.

Ironically, that’s probably the only one in that video with *some* justification - that was May/June 2020 and she had just spat in the cops face before what you see there.

The rest were unprovoked, just cops “following orders” going around head stomping people, hitting them with cars, macing grannies, pulling out the fucking bearcat to deal with a Union protest and shooting people with rubber bullets.

It’s all pretty outrageous. I’m appalled that people accept this and these kinds of governance.

It was absolutely insane and I couldn't believe what the "free world" has turned into in such a short moment. It showed us freedom in the so called free world is just an illusion that can and will disapear in a blink of an eye whenever it is convenient for the govts.

Were there any consequences to any of the politicians and "experts" for any of this? Well, next time they'll be even more emboldened. Even after all this, it is the opposition to these crazy measures that is still labeled as crazy dangerous antivax misinformators.

Speaking of crazy, a big part of the population were demanding all that. "Govern me harder, save me from the bad people that don't play along, save me from listening to different views and force everyone to obey! We are on the right side of history... diverse, free, tolerant side of it".

It was such an eye opener to see so many people want a hard totalitarian govt and since then you can't unsee it, it's still there.

Even the experience with brutal communist regime didn't make these people immune. Is it just a (human) hive instinct to behave like this in reaction to danger?

I see. I live in Brazil, we have a lot of problems with authoritarian and stupid government policies (in several aspects), but in this topic not even we had been so bad (even though it was quite bad).

If you can get a high paying online job Uruguay and Paraguay can be good options in Latin America. They will be overall cheap (specially housing compared to Australia) ""low"" taxes and somewhat politically more stable (no authoritarian swings in a long time, at least compared to Brazil).

Though I need to say that any choice will have some trade offs. Every country has problems, pretty much choose the "less worse" one
