OK OK.. ..turns out it was [most likely] an issue with my motherboard firmware.. ..updated that, reinstalled Arch.. ..VMs seem stable so far 🤞

yes, with Debian 13.. ..guessing it's related to the Arch kernel
there are some good guides on the gentoo wiki for configuring your kernel
i seem to have it sorted out [for now]
