Bitcoin was never designed to be private. Unfortunately. It was written to be censorship resistant. Which is good. I do agree though that the lack of understanding of privacy is astonishing. Also the state attacks on those that do seem to not even ruffle the feathers of plebs. Heartbreaking.

More than bitcoin, where there is currently no way to make it private without breaking some of its properties, I am referring to L2s.

L2s are all experimental unfortunately. I use/run lightning, have done for 5 years and outside of custodial wallets, not a lot has advanced. I don't think it is as bad as some people say. If you run your own it can be relatively private but without Bitcoin there would be no L2s, so bitcoin privacy practices are essential
