I found this old ad for the Nintendo 64 from the 90s. This was the console I spent most of my childhood playing. Most video games today start out at $60. When I was a kid they started at $50. A $10 price increase isnβt much but the Nintendo switch console today costs about $300. So the Nintendo 64 console costed you the price of less than 3 games while the Nintendo switch console costs you the price of about 5 games. Video games have done pretty well to resist inflation.
Video games, like technology in general is deflationary π€
