I am pretty fascinated by areas of human life dictated by etiquette and not actual rules.

One example is overhead compartments on planes.

There are no clear guidelines just human behavior.

There are clear guidelines. Most airlines and passengers are just too nice to point out other people's stupidity.

Nor have i seen an attendant intervene in a way that hinted that they had any idea what they were talking about.
