When I was 18/19 I watched the documentary called #Zeitgeist.. it all started there for me, started looking everything with different eyes.

Have you watched it?

Very likely on #nostr the % of who saw it will be bigger than anywhere else, but still not sure how famous is it or if considered like full of bs. #asknostr

yeah I also saw it it the same years, it was also for me a "first experience with controversial stuffs"! I was shocked and amazed at the time, I didnt know bitcoin and a lot of things at the time. Now dont remembe exactly what the doc was about, remember just a "generic cospiracy theory about new global scientocratic order" sort of, but at the time clicked something in me!

my first contact with this theory was when i was like 9 years old, it was part of my dad's collection of little leaflets and papers about the apocalypse... CFR, NWO, all of it, i learned before i was 10

I loved it because undermined Money, Religions, Politics and History as we learn in books.. and many other stuff, it really blew my mind.

bitcoin wasn't yet invented/discovered, I do believe I watched it first time in 2007 but very likely was some made some yrs before.

Thinking about downloading and republishing on nostr.build so to be visible directly on #nostr.. 👀

Same with me, but if I'm fair .. I think it didn't start with this kind of truths. It started when I was younger, on a forum with a lot of techies, where some very skilled developers were discussing complicated topics. I realized that one can discuss all kinds of things, without forcing anything on another, just exchange of ideas. Where you're stimulated to think, and allowed to disagree and discuss. I tried to learn. I continued to learn, and Zeitgeist was on that path 😋 (also VPRO Backlight documentaries on the (collapse of the) financial system)

Will check those docs you mentioned, thanks 😁🤙

"Quants the alchemists of wallstreet" "flash crash 2011” " the chinese economic bubble 2011" "the tax free tour"

Look for around 10 years ago

And also, some speakers like Richard Dawkins tend to attract a lot of nonsensicle discussions in the Q&A after his talks, especially 10 years ago. The blinding incorrect, unsound arguments and relentless pushing for it, opened my eyes in one particular way.

If you look/listen carefully, you'll notice that Dawkins is quite skilled at accurately describing/explaining what he means, to emphasize key points, or to ridicule in order to emphasize the part that's silly, as opposed to ridiculing a person. The responses that are then misplaced, are also eye-opening.

Same here, along with Krishnamurti.

The part on money mechanics blew me away!

Yeah, from then I started to see how much money incentives shaped the world

did you watch the other Zeitgeist documentaries?

yes all three, but the second and third weren't that impactful, but still good to watch
