Question for #coracle users: how important is it to you that you be able to schedule notes? Is that something you've ever wished you could do? Or should I let Shipyard handle that use case?
Discussion
I haven't tested it to confirm, but I had two people in Austin this past week. Tell me they couldn't get Shipyard to work.
From a risk & responsibility pov … if the scheduled post doesn’t go through & it creates a “lost opportunity” … you might be on the hook.
I know on some of the bank messaging projects I’ve worked on … this was a reoccurring concern … even with a strong TOS explicitly covering our butt
That's kind of wild, if that's the case for posting in general pretty much no one is safe for anything
sadly ... the edge cases Ive always had to account for are financial transactions based. the easy answer (IMHO) ... as long as its stated upfront that any financial losses that occur from a service disruption or other error from a missed scheduled post are bore by the account holder & not the service ... you're covered.
... my last big project was a stock trading app ... so this sort of stuff rang in my ears from the devs to the product manager. and now it's something i think about often.
Software lives on the edge, most software products you can get away with not worrying about liability, but some industries get really dicey fast. Like how the line between bitcoin nodes and custodial financial services is so thin.
Not really important to me
I think scheduling sending any kind of postings at say midnight UTC might add a tiny bit of timezone anonymity
i would welcome this. i was rugged at the shipyard too damn high 😁 kinda gave up
Nice feature, but not super high on the priority list.
What would be higher on the list for you
Very good question, one I probably need to think serious about.
Ah, one would be to have a type of web clipper to share selected text with link.
I'll make a note of it!
The early TiddlyWiki had a fantastic one. These days, FreeFeed and SeenThis have quite good ones for online posting, as does QOwnNotes for saving selected text to a file within it. I never got Obsidian's to work and Capacities changed, it seems, from saving the full selected to text to only a portion.
