One day you’ll realize that there’s an invisible rule book.

It doesn’t exist on paper anywhere and yet for some reason you know all its rules.

You then realize that you believe it is important to follow these rules.

After you have this realization one of two things are going to happen.

1. You decide these rules are valid and you must live your life by them and enforce them on others

2. You decide these rules only exist in your mind. So you begin to forget them and encourage others to do the same.

Some people treat that invisible rule book, like its realer than real.

So I see you’ve met my family lol

One could call these "morals".

Less so morals, more so social norms and mores.

Nobody knows what’s happening. We’re just individually and collectively figuring out what’s happening along the way; moment by moment

The rules on etiquette where written during victorian times. 🤣

I've been thinking so much about this lately.

Great interview with Derek Sivers where he talks about it...

This is true on several levels and the realization happens about a different set of invisible rules at every stage of development.
